About:

The Oro Youth Leaders Convergence (OYLC) is a yearly youth leaders congress of different individual youth leaders and youth groups of Cagayan de Oro City. Executive Order 72-2014 creating the Oro Youth Development Council (OYDC) mandated the annual gathering of youth leaders in order to articulate the concerns of the youth and draw directions of action based on the 5 thematic areas (1) access to quality education (2) disaster mitigation and environmental protection (3) peace and order (4) youth health (5) good governance. It also aims to harness youth energy to build a more accountable, responsive, participative and transparent local governance. This is the venue where different youth organizations and youth leaders can directly participate in urban development and governance.

Convergence 2014:

Last year, the Oro Youth Leaders Convergence resulted to the adoption of the Oro Youth Development Agenda, which became the basis for the strategic interventions of the OYDC.

This year’s Convergence:

This year, the OYLC would now build on the gains of last year and invest more in the articulation of a youth empowerment policy agenda. The OYLC will have issue and policy discussions  and an intimate interaction with city government officials in all branches. This would also be a chance for the city leadership to directly update the youth on the present programs and development as well as establish personal contacts with the youth leaders. This is also a means for youth leaders to account the performance of the heads of government.
